Oysters live entirely in seawater, from the intertidal zone to the depth of about 20 meters, but some species live only in the intertidal zone, and some species live in the slightly deeper subtidal zone. Oysters are the largest cultured shellfish in the world, one of the important Marine biological resources available to human beings, and one of the most common shellfish in China's coastal areas.
