Big Eye Scad
Big Eye Scad resembles a mackerel with a long and slender body, but it earns its "big-eye" status from enormous eyes. It is a relatively small fish, growing to about a foot long (30 cm). It has a sweet and oily flavor similar to mackerel and is great for grilling.
Application
Cooking methods: commonly grilled, fried, or dried. Also makes into great sashimi and poke.
Commercially they are caught with beach seines, purse seines, traps and trawls at a level of 200,000 to 300,000 tons per year and marketed fresh fish or dried-salted fish. They are considered as high quality food fish and are a substantial food source within all tropical Asian countries. They are also utilized in fish meal and fish oil.
