Crustacean Seafood Has The Best Sales Performance in China in 2021

Total seafood sales in China rose 1 percent to 42 million tons in 2021, with crustaceans performing best in the Chinese market, growing 4 percent to 5.8 million tons, according to Euromonitor, a market research firm based in London, England.

According to the report, by 2022, China's seafood sales to increase by 2%, in spite of 2021 years of China's new crown cases increased, but the catering services around the country to a great extent, has been in normal operation, many Chinese consumers tend to eat small lobster at the restaurant, because consumers found that at home, it is hard to replicate this freshwater crustaceans of the cooking process.

 

While crustacean sales account for a fifth of all seafood sales in terms of volume, they are on a par with fish by value, according to Euromonitor, with king crabs the main driver of crustacean revenue growth and rising prices.

The survey found that consumer acceptance of selling fresh seafood online is growing, helped by new live-streaming sales models and more sophisticated distribution networks, and Chinese tech companies, including TikTok, have started training and program services to help small seafood companies move sales online.

 

According to Euromonitor, leading logistics supply services, after several years of practice, have now developed a sophisticated chilled and frozen seafood distribution system capable of getting products from origin to retail markets in 24 hours or to remote areas in 48 hours.
