RECP, effective on January 1, 2022, will usher in what good news for China's aquatic seafood industry

The RCEP agreement will enter into force on January 1, 2022. The RCEP, which stands for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, aims to remove internal trade barriers, create and improve a free investment environment and expand trade in services. It will also cover a wide range of areas, including intellectual property protection and competition policy. RCEP is home to about half of the world's population and accounts for one third of global annual GDP.

 

Industries and industries that are positively affected:

RCEP mainly covers 15 countries, including China, Japan, The Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, with a cumulative population of 3.6 billion, accounting for nearly half of the world's 7.8 billion population. With a combined economy of about $27 trillion, the 15 countries account for about one-third of global GDP and about one-third of global trade.
