Against the background of global trade barriers and supply chain challenges in the aquaculture industry, China has still recently achieved significant progress in technological innovation and logistics optimization.First of all,Qingdao has driven deep-sea aquaculture upgrades through breakthroughs in seed technology, while Dongying Airport in Shandong has ensured efficient fry transportation during the spring breeding season via a "green channel." These two developments are jointly supporting the high-quality growth of China's aquaculture sector.

In recent years, Qingdao has made multiple breakthroughs in marine aquaculture technology, breaking foreign monopolies and shifting the industry toward higher efficiency and quality. In 2024, Qingdao-developed Fujian oyster strain "Frontier No. 2" captured over 30% of the southern oyster farming market, complementing the northern "Frontier No. 1" to ensure year-round supply. Additionally, researchers from Ocean University of China have successfully bred salmon fry, laying the foundation for deep-sea aquaculture. The world's first 100,000-ton intelligent aquaculture vessel, "Guoxin No. 1", is already in operation, with two new 150,000-ton vessels set for delivery in 2025. These vessels are expected to produce 10,000 tons annually, it marking China's entry into large-scale deep-sea farming.Meanwhile, Dongying Airport in Shandong has opened a "green channel" for live aquatic

products during the spring breeding season, optimizing air logistics to ensure rapid delivery of shrimp and fish fry to farms. To date, the channel has transported over 40 tons of live aquatic products, providing stable fry supplies for farmers along the Yellow River Delta. This channel has greatly enhanced the efficiency of aquaculture and also made the specialty aquatic products sell well throughout the country.

Currently,Due to Trump's tariff policy, China's aquatic products industry is facing the dual challenges of a severe contraction in the Sino-US trade market and domestic industrial upgrading. Under such a severe situation, Qingdao's seed industry innovation and deep-sea aquaculture model, combined with Dongying's efficient logistics system, provide the industry with a dual guarantee of "technology + supply chain", which has effectively alleviated the current situation. It is believed that in the future, with the expansion of RECP and B&R, China's aquatic products market will reach a higher status.
