The Chinese tilapia market remained generally stable during the 12th week (March 16-22), with slight increases in some areas due to tightening supply. Prices for 500-800 gram tilapia delivered to factories in Guangdong and Hainan remained unchanged from the previous week, maintaining a stable market trend. Prices for similar products in Guangxi rose by 0.40 yuan per kilogram, mainly supported by tight raw material supplies.

Many export companies, especially processing plants primarily targeting the US market, are attending the annual seafood trade show in Boston, engaging in face-to-face communication with buyers. As a result, the pace of operation in the processing sector in South China has slowed, and the overall market trading atmosphere has become quieter.

The US market is currently still in an inventory-driven phase. Importers' inventory levels are sufficient to meet short-term demand, and their purchasing strategy is mainly "replenishing inventory as needed," resulting in a relatively stable overall pace. Currently, buyers have little urgency to replenish their stocks, focusing on meeting demand rather than actively expanding inventory, and their acceptance of price increases is relatively limited. Market transactions revolve more around existing inventory than based on future cost expectations. This operating logic suppresses short-term price fluctuations, with both supply and demand sides maintaining relative restraint. However, this equilibrium is temporary. Once a new round of orders is concentrated during or after the Boston trade show, the purchasing pace may change, leading to new price fluctuations.
