  On July 1st, the third High-level Conference on Aquaculture Transformation in the Asia-Pacific region was grandly held in Shanghai. This conference is jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Aquaculture Center Network and other international institutions, as well as Shanghai Ocean University. The scale of this exhibition is unprecedentedly grand, with over 60 high-level representatives from the Asia-Pacific region in attendance, covering leaders of fishery departments and international organizations from 15 countries. 

 

  The conference focused on the opportunities and challenges faced by the aquaculture industry under the background of global climate change, and particularly discussed how to achieve sustainable development goals through technological innovation and industrial upgrading. The exhibition also mentioned the content of intelligent aquaculture with AI participation. All parties involved in the exhibition unanimously agreed that promoting the transformation of traditional aquaculture models towards modernization and intensification has become a consensus in the industry. This meeting jointly evaluated the progress of regional aquaculture transformation, thereby further consolidating efforts and accelerating the realization of the blue transformation vision of an efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable aquatic food system. The Chinese government has always adhered to the fishery development path of "focusing on aquaculture", promoting the high-quality and rapid development of the aquaculture industry.

  During the conference, experts and scholars engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as intelligent breeding technology and ecological environment protection. Several speakers pointed out that the application of digital and automation technologies will significantly enhance the efficiency of breeding while reducing reliance on natural resources. In terms of regional cooperation, the representatives attending the meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening technology sharing and standard alignment, and particularly reached a preliminary consensus on establishing a unified quality certification system. In addition, the conference specially set up a forum to encourage innovative thinking to inject new vitality into the development of the industry. Shanghai Ocean University, relying on the National University Science Park, has promoted the transformation of over 300 scientific and technological achievements of college students. Through the "Fishery Science and Technology Professor and Doctor Service Team", it has continuously trained more than 20,000 fishermen across the country for 20 years. Wan Rong, the president of Shanghai Ocean University, expressed the hope that the university's scientific and technological service radius could be expanded to the Asia-Pacific region in the future.
