Body deep and very compressed

Wrinkled patch of skin on head almost reaching pectoral-fin base

Single dorsal fin

Anterior dorsal and anal fins extended

37–43 dorsal-fin rays

Colour:

Silvery.

Size:

Up to 35 cm TL.

Distribution:

Indo–West Pacific in subtropical waters.

Habitat:

A benthopelagic species. Found over sandy and muddy bottoms, from 5 to 80 m depth.
