The Purpose of Fishing Closed Season

Every summer, various regions in our country implement a fishing ban that lasts for about two months. This is an important measure taken by fishery management departments to protect aquatic resources. The fishing ban was implemented between May and August because the water temperature is suitable during this period and it is the season when most fish species concentrate on laying eggs and reproducing.

During these months, fishermen have suspended their fishing operations, creating a safe breeding environment for fish schools: on the one hand, it enables adult fish to complete their spawning smoothly; on the other hand, it protects newly hatched small fish from being caught and gives them time to grow. Practical experience has shown that strictly implementing a fishing ban for several months can significantly increase fishery resources, raising the number of fish by more than 30% and significantly increasing the average weight of individuals. This duration has been scientifically calculated. It should neither be too short to lead to poor protection effects nor too long to affect the normal production of fishermen. Nowadays, many fishing areas are equipped with intelligent monitoring devices, which conduct patrols through cameras and drones to ensure that the fishing ban regulations are implemented. With the enhancement of ecological protection awareness, more and more fishermen have realized that although the "fishing moratorium" over the past few months has temporarily reduced their income, it has brought about more sustainable fishery development and more stable fishing earnings in the future.
