With the development of fishery, China's aquatic processing industry also develops and grows.

I. Aquatic product processing industry chain

Aquatic product processing mainly includes the processing of various aquatic products, rough processing into frozen aquatic products and preserved food, refined processing into leisure food, health food, prepared vegetables and canned food, etc. Upstream mainly involves all kinds of fish, shrimp, crab, shellfish, turtles and other aquatic products, and downstream is the channel, processed aquatic products flow to consumers through e-commerce, business and other channels.

II. upstream of the industrial chain

1. Aquatic products

Aquatic products are the general term of aquatic animal and plant products produced by Marine and freshwater fisheries and their processed products. Statistics show that from 2017 to 2020, China's total output of aquatic products increased from 64.45 million tons to 65.49 million tons, with steady growth. Ciic expects China's aquatic product output to reach 65.75 million tons in 2021 and 66.12 million tons in 2022.

2. Seawater products

At present, half of China's aquatic products are seawater products. In 2020, the output of Marine products reached 33.144 million tons, up nearly 1 percent year on year, of which the output of natural Marine products reached 11.791 million tons, accounting for 35.6 percent of the total. The output of artificially bred Marine products reached 21.353 million tons, accounting for 64.4 percent of the total. Ciic expects China's seawater production to reach 33 million tons in 2021 and 32.99 million tons in 2022.

3. Aquaculture

China's aquatic product output mainly comes from aquaculture, which has maintained steady growth. In 2020, the national aquatic product production was 52.12 million tons, up 3% year on year. Ciic expects China's aquaculture output to reach 52.2 million tons in 2021 and 52.74 million tons in 2022.
