Analysis on current supply situation and market structure of Chinese aquatic product industry in 2022

Total production of aquatic products hit a new high

With the continuous improvement of Chinese residents' living standards, the consumption structure has been optimized and improved, and the proportion of aquatic products in the diet structure has been increasing. The continuous growth of demand has promoted the continuous improvement of the total production of aquatic products in China. According to the statistics of fishery administration Bureau of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the total output of aquatic products in China has shown a trend of continuous growth since 2015. By 2020, the total output of aquatic products in China will be 65.4902 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 1.1%.

In terms of the specific varieties of aquatic products, fresh water products and sea water products in China are keeping pace with each other. From 2015 to 2019, the proportion of sea water products decreased from 51.8% to 50.7%, and the output value of fresh water products increased from 48.2% to 49.3%. By 2020, the national output of seawater products will be 33.1438 million tons, accounting for 50.6 percent of the total output. The output of fresh water products was 32.3464 million tons, accounting for 49.4 percent of the total output, and the gap between the two was further narrowed.
