Giant squid: price fluctuations, significant growth in trading volume
The overall price of Giant squid remained volatile, with a slight fluctuation compared to the previous week. Specifically, the prices of small and medium-sized products such as tail and small whole round. In contrast, the prices of large heads, small heads, and tube fell significantly, with the prices of small heads and tube falling by more than 1,000 yuan/ton.
The market was active, with the total transaction volume of Giant squid from July 11 to July 17 reaching 8,156 tons, increase of 33%. Extra small and small whole squid were the main trading products, accounting for more than 60% of the total. The comprehensive quotation showed that except for a few specifications, the quotations of most products remained stable, and the market remained balanced overall.
Illex squid: Fishing is over, prices have risen slightly
The price of Illex squid has risen slightly this week, with the price of 200-600g products rising by 500 yuan/ton, while the other specifications remain stable, showing a certain price support.
The transaction volume has decreased to only 336 tons, indicate that the market has entered the stage of digesting the inventory. With the end of Illex's domestic fishing season and the voluntary fishing moratorium on the high seas of the southwest Atlantic Ocean, the supply has tightened and price expectations have been supported. So far, Illex's squid production in 2025 has reached 203,956 tons, a 17-year high.
Indian Ocean squid: Few transactions, prices stable and slightly down
The prices of most sizes of Indian Ocean squid were the same as the previous week, with some prices slightly down, and the overall market performance was stable.
