On June 12, the 2026 Strait (Fuzhou) Fishery Week and the 18th China (Fuzhou) International Seafood and Fishery Expo opened in Fuzhou. Shishi's exhibition presence featured a diverse array of high-quality products-including frozen seafood, ready-to-cook seafood dishes, premium marine ingredients, surimi products, fish-based snacks, and marine-themed cultural and creative goods-comprehensively showcasing the city's achievements in developing a diversified, high-quality marine fishery industry.
As a key fishery region in Fujian Province-ranked among the province's top 10 and the nation's top 100 counties (or county-level cities) for the fishery industry-Shishi boasts seven high-quality fishing ports and a solid foundation in the marine fishery sector. In recent years, Shishi has continued to cultivate its marine economy, vigorously promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional fisheries while fostering the growth of emerging marine industry chains. The city has focused on enhancing the quality of its seafood processing industry, encouraging enterprises to shift from the traditional model of raw material processing toward refined, deep-processing sectors such as surimi products and canned fish. It is gradually establishing a marine bio-food industrial cluster that integrates seafood cold storage, advanced processing, R&D, and cold-chain logistics. The continuous optimization of the industrial layout effectively drives the coordinated development of upstream and downstream sectors-such as deep-sea fishing, aquatic product processing and trade, and cold-chain logistics-injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the marine economy.

The Fuzhou Fishery Expo was the first international professional fishery exhibition approved by the Ministry of Commerce and one of the first brand exhibitions in Fuzhou to receive UFI international certification. After years of development, it now ranks second globally in scale among fishery exhibitions. The event covers the entire industry chain, spanning aquaculture, deep-sea fishing, advanced seafood processing, ready-to-cook seafood, food processing equipment, and packaging materials. This year's expo brought together over 500 high-quality enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions. It featured specialized zones-such as an international exhibition area, a zone for natural deep-sea fishery products, and a seafood processing area-to showcase new technologies, products, and achievements from the domestic and international fishery sectors. It serves as a high-end platform for fishery stakeholders to exchange ideas, collaborate, and connect production with sales.
