The Peruvian Ministry of Production issued another announcement on October 21st, setting the maximum allowable total catch (LMCTP) for giant squid (Dosidicus gigas) at 609,935 metric tons from January 1 to December 31, 2025. Of this total, the maximum catch of this species from October 1 to October 25, 2025, must not exceed 90,131 metric tons.

The new fishing quota is 37,131 tons, representing an increase from the previous 53,000 tons to the current 90,131 tons for the period from October 1 to 25. Therefore, this policy can be considered a supplement to the previous quota.
Breaking down the new quota over time reveals that during the 25-day fishing window, the average daily catch, calculated based on the adjusted upper limit, could reach 3,604 tons (90,131 tons divided by 25 days). This figure is set within the framework of fishing controls, so in practice, it's possible to achieve daily landings of 5,000 tons during peak periods.

It is worth noting that this quota increase continues the recent trend of dynamic policy adjustments - first setting an annual fishing cap, and then revising and increasing it multiple times.
