Peruvian squid is a soft fish family. It grows rapidly and grows almost infinitely in size. It lives in the habitat of clear water, high salinity, small wave and slow flow, full of submarine rocks and shells, and uneven water bottom. It perches on the water bottom during the day and swims to the upper layer to forage at night. It is close to the shore in clear weather and sinks to the bottom of the sea in rainy days. It has strong phototaxis. It feeds on planktonic crustaceans, shrimp, small fish, etc., and preys on them steadily, accurately and ruthlessly.

Most Peruvian squid lay their eggs on floating grasses, some on the sea floor; Some of the hatchlings are similar to adults, while others pass through the floating larva stage.

The Peruvian squid is native to the Southeast Pacific, so it is also known as the South Pacific squid. Peruvian squid can be fished all year round. Because Peruvian squid are cold-water squid, their peak fishing season occurs in September, October, and November, during which there is a large fishing phenomenon.

Because of its bitter taste, the utilization methods of Peruvian squid are limited. The most important parts of Peruvian squid are its large section, tail and big head.
